There's a raceway in Thermal now? When did that happen?

I don't know but I believe that it's private.

On a related note, this Mercedes is starting to grow on me. I look forward to seeing one in the flesh.

I really would like to see one in person. They look great in pictures. I still haven't heard a bad thing about it.

Neither have I and the ones reviewed were all pre-production models so the ones customers will get will be even better.

Nice! That's the pretty much the same event that I was at beginning of December.

It's called The Thermal Club. I think it's been there less than two years, but I'm not sure. Having been there for basically this same event just over a month ago I do know it's still under construction.

Fact. They're building houses with garages around the track for members to store their track cars. Membership is very expensive.

Very cool. It sounds like it was a lot of fun while still being informative. I would have loved to spend hours going over the cutaway chassis.

Wow that sounds terrific for the members. Was the track nice?

The event I was at was as much training as it was track days. We had hours of classes going over the all of the cutaways; chassis, running gear, engine, engine components, body. It was great. I would imagine it was considerably less technical for customers and press, though.

Wow. You see, I guess for some people that would be boring but I would find that fascinating. It's great to hear about all of this new technology but to actually see it and understand what its purpose is gets me excited. I would actually purchase a cutaway chassis if they offered them.

It's the only track I've been on, but I would say so, very nice actually. Would love to see it when everything is completely finished. They had two tracks and paddock between them. One track was a bit smaller, but still fun and allowed for about 130mph. The other track was larger and unfortunately when I was there they had cones set up on it for things like accelerate/stop, and slalom tests. So no full tilt laps on the big track, but from a stop the GT-S would hit about 130 on the straight and still have to to come down to a complete stop before the end of the straight again.

Haha I know what you mean. It's the complexity and intricacy of these cars that makes me enjoy what I do.

So instead of another golf resort, its a sort of racing resort then? Hmm, cool.

(I worked on a couple golf resorts in that area.)

That's terrific.

I have a question about the GT-S though. Will the Edition 1 be the only one to get that aerodynamics package or will it be an option?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what they're going for. They may nude putting in a helipad as well, and have gas pumps with race gas in them.

Interesting. I'm not usually a huge fan of wings but I think it actually suits this vehicle.

I like the manual ignition option. Pushbuttons are just another buffer between you and the machine.

This is the first vehicle that I've seen that offered both.

Yeah, I agree. Some of them have a wing hydraulic wing that comes out at speed or with the push of a button.
